Sydney Harbour commuters got more than their usual trip home on Thursday 10 September, when Manly Fast Ferry was transformed into a floating live music venue for a special one-off event with Lipton Sparkling.
As part of Lipton’s Sparkling Sessions, passengers across multiple afternoon services were treated to live music, DJ sets and complimentary tastings of the new Lipton Zero Sugar Sparkling Ice Tea — all against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour.
DJ Mistah Cee kicked things off from a unique shopping trolley-turned-DJ booth before Australian indie favourites The Jungle Giants took over, performing a live set featuring tracks including Heavy Hearted, Tell Me How It Feels and their recent triple j Like A Version cover of Underworld’s Born Slippy.
The harbour performance also marked The Jungle Giants’ final Australian show before heading to the United States, making for a pretty memorable send-off — and certainly not your average commute between Circular Quay and Manly.
It was another example of how Sydney Harbour can become a destination in itself, with Manly Fast Ferry providing a uniquely Sydney setting for an afternoon of live music on the water.
